Can you see the whipped cream melting? I guess doing these on a 96 degree day was not a good idea.
I saw these at http://www.bakersroyale.com. She scooped out the middle of the banana and added ice cream but I decided against that since I was having a hard enough time with the whipped cream melting.
They are a fun snack and fruit dipped in chocolate is still healthy - right? These are tricky to make but if you are like me and not a perfectionist when it comes to food you will be happy with the flavor combination no matter how they look.
Ingredients:
2 bananas not too ripe
1 cup chocolate chips, melted
1 cup multi colored sprinkles
8 marschino cherries
8 squirts of canned whipped cream
Start by cutting the bananas into 4 pieces each making extra cuts to even out the pieces so that they can sit upright. Melt chocolate chips in microwave. Dip bottoms of bananas in chocolate and put in freezer for a minute to harden a little but not too much so that the sprinkles wont stick.
Dip bottoms of bananas into sprinkles and put back into freezer to set for a few minutes.
If yours are like mine you will have to cut some of the chocolate off the bottom to be more uniform but that is not until the chocolate hardens. Take out of freezer and top with squirt whipped cream and marschino cherry. Put back into freezer for another few minutes before serving.
Enjoy! Susan
